How to Set Up Your Work From Home Office

Once you have decided to pursue an online job you'll need to set up a work from home office space.

The ideal space should be in a part of your house that is away from distractions. This of course depends on how big your living space is.

Apartments, condos and the like will give you limited space but there are ways around that.

Limited Space

If you are working with a very limited space survey possible work areas from doorways. This gives you an idea whether it will provide you some peace and quiet or if it will be in everyone's path. Ideal spaces are corners, unused wall spaces and even closets.

It's become a trend to turn closets into small office or craft work spaces. This is a great idea because at the end of the day you can close the doors and be done with work concentrating on other things.

Basic Office Space Elements

To set up your office space you'll need 2 basic elements, a table and chair. I know it sounds simple but there's more to it than that.

Table

Once you've determined the work space available to you it's now time to assess what kind of table you can use. Ideally you'll only have one computer to work with but there are some who have 2 or even more depending on the kind of work they're in. You don't have to go out and buy some fancy office desk though you can make use of what you have at home.

Try using a dresser which will give you desktop space and drawers for supplies, files, etc.You can also use a book shelf and make a half table directly installed on top of one of the shelves.

Chair

You can use most any chair but once you start working 8 hour days or more you'll need a comfortable chair to sit in. Ideally, office chairs are the best but if you don't have one you can use a chair with a back and use pillows propped up behind you to give your back some comfort. The beauty of working at home is you can get up when you want to and walk around the house to stretch a bit.

Seek Comfort and a Good View
All things considering comfort is the key thing. You won't be able to stand working at home if you're not comfortable.

The area has to be work conducive and provide you with enough eagerness to want to work. If you can position your work space in front of a window or near it this can be a great diversion for a few minutes during your work day.
